When karen people have a celebration they wear karen traditional clothes and they play karen traditional music. They also sing songs together and they have a lot of fun. There are many different types of traditional dances. One of the dances is called the "bamboo dance". Usually karen teenagers take part in this dance from 15-20 years old. There are 26 people altogether in this dance. 8 people dance and act out different ways of traditional karen life by showing how to grow and pick rice. 16 other people squat on the ground holding a bamboo stick in each hend. These people hit the bamboo stick against the ground and sometimes tap the two sticks together at the same time. There is also one person singing and one person playing the guitar during the performance. This dance usually happens at most karen celebrations.
